A SIG moderator is someone whose job is to look after the day to day running of a SIG. Generally, moderators are there to stimulate interesting and informative conversation and to prevent people from going off-topic or from posting abusive or offensive material. For the purposes of protecting and enhancing the usefulness of the SIG functions (Messages, Chat) to members, moderators can, in the case that the portal rules agreed upon by all users during registration ('Rules of Netiquette' and 'Code of Conduct') are violated, delete posted messages, block users from accessing the SIG they moderate, and exclude users from a chat session. Moderators have access to the e-mail addresses of all members of the SIG they moderate, including those users who have opted for not making their e-mail address public to other users of the portal. Moderators can also register users to the SIG they moderate on their behalf.Top of the page
