  1. What is the standard profile?
    The standard profile corresponds to the full graphical version of the AAATE portal, not adjusted to any particular type of user disability. The standard profile is pre-selected for users that have not set their accessibility options explicitly. This profile is not customisable.

  2. What is the default profile?
    The default profile is intended to provide users with a more accessible version of the AAATE portal. Linear page layouts are supported and the graphical interface is simplified, but not adjusted to a particular type of user disability. This profile can be further customised to match the requirements of users with general disability.

  3. What is the profile for motor impairment?
    This profile is recommended for users with dexterity impairment. The full graphical layout is maintained, but the active elements of the page, such as links, are magnified, to make focusing on these elements easier. This profile is not customisable.

  4. What is the profile for low vision?
    This profile is recommended for users with low vision. Linear page layouts are supported and graphical elements are removed or replaced by their alternative text. Larger fonts and a high contrast between the background and foreground colors are used. This profile can be further customised.

  5. What is the profile for blind users?
    This profile is recommended for blind users, and it assumes the use of screen readers or other assistive technology tools. Linear page layouts are supported and graphical elements are removed or replaced by their alternative text. Data tables are linearized, while no particular formatting is used for presentation. Additional navigational elements are provided, for example, links allowing the user to skip sections of the page. This profile can be further customised.

  6. How can I customise a profile?
    In order to customise a profile you have to be a registered user. Once you sign in and activate the 'Accessibility Options' link, a 'Customise' function will be available, next to the 'Preview' and 'Save' functions. By selecting a profile and activating the 'Customise' function, you will be allowed to customise a profile step-by-step. Note that the standard profile, and the profile for motor impairment are not customisable.

  7. How can I save my options?
    You can save your options by activating the 'Save' function. The 'Save' function is available at the initial page of the 'Accessibility Options', and at the end of the customisation procedure. Once the 'Save' function is activated, a confirmation page is presented verifying that your options have been saved.

  8. How does the preview work?
    The 'Preview' function is available at the initial page of the 'Accessibility Options' and at each step of the customisation procedure. You may activate the 'Preview' function at the initial page, before saving a profile selection, or at each step of the customisation procedure, before going to the next step. Any effect of the 'Preview' function is temporary. In order to activate your selections, you should save your options.

  9. How can I modify my options?
    Once you have already set your options, you may repeat the procedure, in order to perform any modifications. Remember to activate the 'Save' function, whenever you wish to save your options.
